Collaboration with the Portuguese magazine A Águia, beginning with the poems “O Soneto da Ânfora ou A Morte de Byblis” and “Ofélia”.

Collaboration with the Portuguese magazine Orpheu, as co-director (for Brazil)of the opening issue and with the poems “A alma que passa”, “Lâmpada noturna”, “Torre ignota”, “O Elogio dos Repuxos” and “Reflexos”.

Enters the diplomatic career, named as Praticante de Secretaria do Ministério das Relações Exteriores, (Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).

Collaboration with the Portuguese magazine  Alma Nova, beginning with the poem “A estrada sem fim”

Promotion to Terceiro Oficial da Carreira Diplomática (Third Officer of the Diplomatic Career).

Collaboration with the Portuguese-Brazilian magazine  Atlântida, Mensário Artístico, Literário e Social para Portugal e Brasil, beginning with the poem “Claro de Lua”.

1918

Promotion to Segundo Oficial da Carreira Diplomática (Second Officer of the Diplomatic Career).

1919

Publication by Leite de Ribeiro of the book Poemas e Sonetos. Receives an Award from the  Academia Brasileira de Letras.

Publication of his book Pequena História da Literatura Brasileira, by Briguiet. New Award from the Academia Brasileira de Letras.

Writes several articles on international politics, as well as the column “Crônica de arte” in O Jornal (RJ).

Participation in the editorial board of A Pátria (RJ)

1921

Meeting of Brazilian modernist intellectuals at the writer’s home with the presence of Mário de Andrade, Oswald de Andrade, Sérgio Buarque and Manuel Bandeira, among others.

1922

Participation in the Semana de Arte Moderna (Modern Art Week) reciting the poem  "Os Sapos" (by Manuel Bandeira) and holding the conference “A pintura e a escultura moderna do Brasil” (Modern Brazilian Painting and Sculpture of Brazil).

Publication of his book Epigramas Irônicos e Sentimentais, by Anuário do Brasil.

Collaboration with the modernist magazine  Klaxon, with the essay “Graça Aranha, criador do entusiasmo” and the poem “Interior”.

Collaboration with the Brazilian magazine  O Mundo Literário, beginning with the poem “Rubayat”.

Collaboration with the magazine América Brasileira, beginning with the iniciando com o essay “Ariadne”.

1923

A long voyage to Mexico and the USA, holding official conferences about Brazilian culture.

Publication of his book O Espelho de Ariel, by Anuário do Brasil (essays on aesthetics, literary history and modern art) 

1924

Trip to Peru, officially designated to attend the celebrations of the centennial of the Battle of Ayacucho.

Nominated Director of the Seção de Negócios Políticos e Diplomáticos da Europa(Department of European Political and Diplomatic Affairs).

Publication of his book Estudos Brasileiros, 1st series, by the publishing firm Briguiet.

Collaboration with the Portuguese-Brazilian magazine Terra de Sol, beginning with the essay “A psiquê brasileira”.

1925

New trip to Mexico, on a Special Mission, to hold conferences.

Trip to Peru, Cuba and the United States. 

Promoted to Primeiro Oficial da carreira diplomática (First Officer of the Diplomatic Career).

Publication of the book Toda a América, by the publishing house Pimenta de Melo e Cia., with illustrations by Nicola de Garo.

Collaboration with the Brazilian magazine Movimento, later called Movimento Brasileiro, beginning with the essay “A poesia da América”.

Promoted to the Ministério das Relações Exteriores (Ministry of Foreign Affairs)

1931

Nominated Primeiro Secretário (First Secretary)  at the Paris Embassy.

Publication of the book Estudos Brasileiros, 2nd and 3rd series, by the publishing house Briguiet.

Publication of his book Rabelais e o riso do Renascimento, simultaneously by Briguiet (in Brazil)and by Émilie Hazan, Éditeur (France), with a preface by Luc Durtain, to whom the book is dedicated.

Colaboração com o periódico brasileiro Revista Nova, iniciando com o ensaio “Retrato de Graça Aranha”.

1932

Promoted to Comissionado Encarregado de Negócios (Commissioned Chargé d’Affaires) in The Hague, The Netherlands.

Residence in Paris, where he proceeds as First Secretary at the Embassy.

1933

Publication of his book Le Brésil et le génie français, by Imprensa Nacional

1934

Successive promotions in the diplomatic career: Ministro Plenipotenciário de segunda classe (Plenipotentiary Minister, Second Class); Secretário do Chefe do Governo Provisório (SEcretary to the Head of the Provisional Government) and, finally, Chefe da Casa Civil da Presidência da República (Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic , for the Getúlio Vargas government.

1935

Elected "Príncipe dos Prosadores Brasileiros", a title conferred by the Brazilian press at the time, having as contenders Monteiro Lobato and Oswald de Andrade, among others.

19th of January: suffers a serious car accident, in Rio de Janeiro.

15th of February: death due to a generalised infection. Transfer of the body to the Palácio do Itamaraty (Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) where the wake is held.

16th of February: burial with solemn honours of Chief of State, at the São João Batista cemetery.

Posthumous publications of his books Itinerário – Antilhas, Estados Unidos, México and Caderno de Imagens da Europa.
