Lilies, and her eyes stare just one to where

     Her best dreams spreads

Its rayed transparent wings on the blue air

     |And the grass-beds[1]…|

Violets, and her lips touch each other in

     A curve that keeps

Ever its secret of a wish to sin

     Hid in virtue’s deeps[2].

|Roses, old faded roses, and the sun

     On landscapes far

From where our wishes like feed far over sun

     And new things are.

But there are flowers and life is still to live…

     Here eyes may be

Eloquent messengers that do arrive

     At mystery…

And[3] life is cruel, flowers are sweet, her glance

     Powerless to know

Oh blow on me, great winds, that with dead leaves dance

     Then leave me[4] and go…
