Arquivo virtual da Geração de Orpheu

Almada Negreiros e Sarah Affonso

Fernando Pessoa – I-God

[BNP/E3, 49A3 – 27-28]

I-God.

All is so highly and so darkly God!

     Here from where I sit

I look with God’s eyes on God’s sky and God’s road

So dusty and white and sun-hit.

God-I God to {…} God sunlit

I work with so morning[1] a soul at the fields

     So humbly my God’s-eyes stare

Out of obviousness the trees and {…} and that builds

(No matter now, for it is but a buzzing |now|) †.

Little many flocks, oh how I am God with them

     My clear eyes kiss

The hills and the necessary sheep on them, and the gleam

Of the sun on all this

I look through God at the visible air and the higher

† some sense of crime not a sense

All this world is really in me, I am feebly a part of the trees

The curve of the hills is my tense.

[27v]

Of my soul’s-substance are the colours made

Wherewith God paints the sunset, this first morn

Is of the taint of my soul’s glance, the shade

The {…}, the {…}, {…} the sunset words that adorn

Their presences with presence[2] the odours borne

By invisible hands though Sprung and Hours

All this am I – I know what only – that thou

Drink in with life, the {…} of flowers.

___

A wind of greater hopes and wider dreams

Blows through the salty world[3] scattering

The heat of furnished revels, the {…} steams

That many are on {…} like a tired wing,

A weird fierce with the too-† it doth baring

Too wondered with dreams of immortal mad

To lean an understanding a throned king

Of comprehension – so we are timid mere greed

Of what we cannot know, nor guess nor dream and send.
