A literary composition may be classified in 3 manners: with regard to its cause, with regard to its essence, with regard to its End.

The classification by end {…}

The 1^st is the classification with regard to literary history; the 2^nd with regard to literature itself; the 3^rd with regard to the moral, ethereal side of literature. Literature as science (1), as art, (2) as system-of-ethics[1] (3).

The aim of literature is to aid in the progress and evolution of the world; it does this in 3 ways and the 3^rd classification is in relation to these 3 secondary ends. There is literature of instruction, literature of elevation and literature of moralisation [all this way?]

A 1ª é a classificação em relação à história literária; a 2ª no que diz respeito à literatura propriamente dita; a 3ª no que diz respeito ao lado moral e etéreo da literatura. Literatura como ciência (1), como arte, (2) como sistema-de-ética (3).
