No Congresso Internacional Modernidades Plurais: Modernismo e Surrealismo na Literatura e nas Artes, partindo do centenário do Manifesto do Surrealismo (1924), talvez o mais determinante e abrangente movimento vanguardista do século XX, propomo-nos reflectir sobre a diversidade das propostas modernistas e surrealistas e sobre o sentido daquela que, nas palavras de Octavio Paz, se foi configurando como uma tradição de ruptura com amplas repercussões no modo como se traçou a complexa e conflituosa rede de dinamismo criativo da primeira metade do século XX e das sucessivas reconfigurações desse património até aos nossos dias.

International Congress Plural Modernities
At the International Congress Plural Modernities: Modernism and Surrealism in Literature and the Arts, starting from the centenary of the Manifesto of Surrealism (1924), perhaps the most determining and comprehensive avant-garde movement of the 20th century, we propose to reflect on the diversity of modernist and surrealist proposals and on the meaning of what, in the words of Octavio Paz, was configured as a tradition of rupture with broad repercussions in the way in which the complex and conflicting network of creative dynamism of the first half of the 20th century, and the successive reconfigurations of this heritage, were traced up to the present day.
