Nature seeks good ever therefore is it not good itself. The world is a perpetual aspiration, an eternal search for the ideal. But being for ever an aspiration towards good, the world must be ever evil. And the greater man’s consciousness is, the more he takes knowledge of that evil, the more he feels himself profoundly miserable.
The victories of nature in her strength towards good – the illusions have like all good victories the {…} of all victory – pain and suffering and death.
All is for the best in the worst of possible worlds.
