Introduction.

I.

The Portuguese; race, character, etc.

Begin by geographical history containing a few data as to the conquest of the territory, till its present extent. Language, character, etc. Including races and their influence; climate and geographical position by the Atlantic.

II.

Elements of Portuguese character that have influence on literature – nature of Portuguese imagination, of their sentimentality. Reason of inepithetic character of poetry. Differences from Spanish. (Spanish more {…}), from Italians (Italians more artistic), from French (French more, being essentially so, intellectual).

Começar pela história geográfica contendo alguns dados quanto à conquista do território, até à sua extensão actual. Língua, carácter, etc. Incluindo raças e a sua influência; clima e posição geográfica pelo Atlântico. 

II.

Elementos do carácter português com influência na literatura - natureza do imaginário português, do seu sentimentalismo. Razão de carácter inepitético da poesia. Diferenças do espanhol. (Espanhol mais {…}), dos italianos (italianos mais artísticos), do francês (o francês mais, sendo essencialmente intelectual).
